The leather is then treated with olive oil from Italy during the tanning process to give it a moist feel, and the process of greasing and milling gives it a softness and a natural small grain. The leather is vegetable-tanned with a thin layer of vegetable tannin, so there is a tendency for individual differences in the way the texture of the material is formed.
